Therése Shearer

July 30, 1974 - July 30, 2017

Therese Shearer, 43, Beaumont, died peacefully in her sleep July 30, 2017. Therese was born July 30, 1974, to Rebecca Lynn Rabb and Smiley Shearer.

Therese attended St. Anne Catholic School, Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School and Central Senior High before attending Lamar Institute of Technology where she studied instrumentation technology.

Therese was a gifted and talented graphic designer with a creative mind and an artistic eye. Her ideas and artistry can be seen on many publications, logos, brochures, business cards, t-shirts, advertisements, flyers and websites in Southeast Texas and beyond. She had a knack for word play and for designing content unique for each client. She listened intently to every client’s needs and created beautiful, relevant products for varying professions and industries. Therese also was always willing to share her knowledge and ideas with others. She loved her work and the people she worked with; she was fair and honest and joyfully created, collaborating with clients and other designers. Some of her works include “The Events Books,” a publication she initially created and designed from 2008 until 2016. She redesigned the Beaumont Enterprise’s “VIP” magazine in 2014 and produced that publication from 2014 until 2016. She also worked with the Junior League of Beaumont and designed their publication, “Spinnings” for a number of years. Therese created many of the Gift of Life print materials as well as promotional literature for the mental health movement “Okay to Say.” Therese was also a former employee of The Examiner.

Therese loved her family and friends and grew up spending weekends with extended family including her aunts and uncles, her beloved nanny, brother and mother. She especially enjoyed holidays when she loved to cook. She adored her niece and encouraged her to read and study and do well in school. She also loved cooking with her niece. They baked cupcakes and cookies together. Therese also loved her dog, Millie.

Therese valued her friendships, too. She was a confidante to many because she could be trusted. She was a loyal, straight shooter. Her friends knew they could always count on her to speak honestly. She was kind and gracious, generous sometimes to a fault, lighthearted and funny. She giggled a lot and enjoyed telling and hearing a good joke. She was a strong, wise woman with definite opinions, dreams, goals and aspirations. Her life was too short, and she will be missed by many.

Therese is survived by her mother, Rebecca Lynne Rabb; sister, Adrienne Shearer, brother, Justin Rabb, who was one of her closest friends; niece and nephew, Kennedy and Camden Rabb; and grandmother, Geraldine Lopez. She also leaves behind caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A gathering of Therese’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont.

I am totally speechless. It’s 3:45 in the morning and I had a dream about Medugorje. I could not go back to sleep so I was thinking about our trip. The fun we had the laughing all of it was so great. I got out of bed and looked you up. I was thinking I wonder what Therese is up to these days.
I looked you up Therese and saw that you were with my Parents in Heaven. God took all of you about the same time.
I am so shocked right now. My great dream remembering our trip to Europe has turned into a nightmare.
Therese I always looked too you as my little sister. The wild child, I remember all the great times on our trip. I know I have never laughed like that before or after our trip. Go play some tricks on my Parents. I will see you again love. Save a seat in the laughing section for me. Love you always.
