Charley Mae Jones

Charley Mae Jones, 85, of Nederland, peacefully entered her heavenly home, Wednesday, March 01, 2017. She was born on April 21, 1931, in Port Arthur, to Vera Jane Stine and Joe Patton.

Charley retired from the United States Corps of Engineers after more than twenty years of service. She enjoyed cooking, reading, church activities, and gatherings of family and friends. Charley will be remembered as the best wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother that Christ created.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Hill and her husband, Arthur, of Hamshire and Laurie Jones of Nederland; sons, Dillard Jones and his wife, Yolanda, of Kerrville and Steve Jones and his wife, Susan, of Burleson; grandchildren, Jessica, Zeke, Lindsey, Zachary, Matthew, Jason, Amber, Carl, Billy, Kelli, Joe, and Josh; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Madeline, Savannah, Wyatt, Walker, Kenidee, Kellen, Kyrie, Mykah, Tanner, Andrea, Erica, Matthew, Michael, Elijah, Marie, Charlie, Aubrey, Danielle, Chase, Lorelei, and Kaden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Vera Patton; husband of sixty-one years, Clarence Jones; son, Joe Kelly Jones; and sister, Erna Lee Patton.

A gathering of Mrs. Jones’ family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
