Jean Israelson Sword
Jean Israelson Sword, 96, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020. She was born April 29, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, to Lena and Gustave Israelson.
Jean worked for oil companies in Illinois and Wyoming after graduating from business school. After moving to Beaumont in 1965 she worked as a medical secretary until her retirement in 1997.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Hoke, of Texas City and Leslie Cook, of Nederland; grandchildren, James Hoke, of Galveston and Jennifer Williamson and husband, Drew, of Lafayette, Colorado; sister, Iris Chapp; brother, Ray Israelson and wife, Carol; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Gustave Israelson; sisters, Juanita Gilkerson; Hope Marsh; and Nona McClew; and brother, Alan Israelson.
A family committal for Mrs. Sword will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
