Marie "Hazel" (LeJune) Trahan

June 1, 1929 - January 28, 2021

Marie “Hazel” (LeJune) Trahan, 91, of China, died January 28, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 1, 1929, to Dora Mire LeJune and Euger LeJune in China, Texas.

Hazel was a woman of great faith, she was devout in praying the Rosary and also taught religious education (CCD) for 37 years. She was a talented artist and painted the banners for the church. She enjoyed quilting and spent hours piecing fabrics together. Hazel also enjoyed painting, especially with her grandchildren. She was the matriarch of our family and loved when we were able to gather for the fourth of July and Christmas celebrations. She was the most appreciative person, always thanking everyone who assisted her in any way. She was truly one of a kind.

Survivors include her children, Mack Trahan and his wife, Carolyn, of China; Jerry Trahan and his wife, Leslie, of Converse, Texas; Patti Calder and her husband, Donald; Donna Forman and her husband, Shelly; David Trahan and his wife, Bonnie; and Charles Trahan and his wife, Dana, all of China; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; twelve great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; and sisters, Jeannette Cicero, Kathryn Touchet, and Lulu Evans.

She is preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Pierre Lawrence Trahan; one grandson, Earl Lawrence Trahan; parents, Dora and Euger LeJune; sisters, Wilda Mae Whitehead, Lita Deets, Dee Dee Martel, Bobbie Schooley, and Shirley Bertrand.

A Rosary for Mrs. Trahan will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private family service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, China, with her interment to follow at China Cemetery.
