Joe Reyes

December 14, 1972 - April 14, 2021

Jose Luis “Joe” Reyes, 48, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on December 14, 1972, in Lubbock, to Fidencia Perez Reyes and Jose T. Reyes.

Genuine, hardworking, loving/devoted father, and God fearing describe only a small portion of the extraordinary man Joe Reyes was.

Joe was born and raised in the church. His church home was Wesley United Methodist Chruch, Beaumont. He loved God. He read the Bible daily. He strived to be the man God intended him to be. We know God welcomed Joe with arms wide open.

Joe was the best Daddy, Poppa, and Michelle’s HunnyBee. He participated in their hobbies, encouraged their dreams, and instilled a hard work ethic in them.

A truly hardworking man who worked his way from the bottom to a position of authority and supervision, Joe had been at the same company in China, Texas, currently known as LyondellBasell, for almost thirty years. He was such a great listener, a go getter, and a leader. He inspired so many people at his company.

Joe loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, especially his Road King. He met so many people that shared the same passion for riding that turned into great friends. Now, Joe is cruising his bike on streets of gold.

Joe left such a lasting impact on his family, friends, and even strangers. He may be gone from this earth, but I know he is in heaven with our Lord and Savior watching out over his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Maurissa Milligan and her husband, Cody, of Beaumont; son, Jose Reyes, of Beaumont; grandchild, Jesse Milligan; his significant other, Michelle Fincher, of Beaumont; and ex-wife, Kelli Reyes, of Montgomery.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Fidencia Reyes.

A gathering of Mr. Reyes’ family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Joe loved his family, worked hard at his job, was a gentle soul and knew how to have fun. I was honored to have him call me "brother".

To the family: When all the visitors have gone, all the condolences are given, and you feel that void, lean on the Lord. Praise the lord for the time that he gave you,. Praise the Lord for the legacy that Joe left, and praise the Lord for the assurance he gives that you will be together again. I pray that God gives peace of mind and peaceful sleep during this difficult time. May God Bless you all

I knew Joe since I was four- he was one of my closest friends; his mother and father were my second pair of parents; I miss them all dearly. RIP my brother.
