Josie PEarl Tschiedel Schuldt

January 6, 1915 - May 29, 2017

Josie Pearl Tschiedel Schuldt, 102, of Beaumont, passed away on May 29, 2017, at Silsbee Oaks.  She was born on January 6, 1915, in Park, Fayette County, Texas, to Joseph Charles Tschiedel and Alma Liese (Knippel) Tschiedel.

Josie went to school in Park and La Grange, then moved to Beaumont to live with her Aunt Emma Hackebiel where she finished high school.  After graduation in 1933, she went to Houston to study nursing but returned to Beaumont to marry Erben W. They were married on October 18, 1936, in her parents’ home in Park, Texas.

Josie and Erben lived in Beaumont until 1942. In 1942, while Erben W. was traveling, Josie and Erben J. moved to Park. In 1946, they moved to Galveston and stayed there until 1983, when they moved back to Beaumont.

Josie is survived by her son, Erben J. Schuldt and his wife, Pat, of Manhattan, Kansas; grandchildren, Sallie Mann and her husband, Bart, of Colorado Springs, Travis Schuldt and his wife, Natalie, of Los Angeles, Austin Schuldt and his wife, Megan, of Manhattan, Kansas; four great-grandchildren, Kate and Jack Mann, Reygan Schuldt of Los Angeles, London Schuldt of Manhattan; nieces, Bobette Stegall and her husband, Jim, and Darlene Favre and her husband, Joe, who helped Josie in her final years; and nephew, Mike Tschiedel.

She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and good friends.  Josie and her family wish to thank these people for being so helpful to her during her years without Erben: Earl and Helen Gilmore, great-nephew, Chris Schuldt and his wife, Kelly, Bruno and Julie Lioi, Sandra and Howard Smith, Tim Smith, Russell Fisher, Nancy Maines, Genevia, Jan and Rod, and Nancy Meek.

Josie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Harvey Tschiedel and sister, Ruby Kelly.

Special thanks to Kathy Harris who helped Josie in her last few years.

A gathering of Mrs. Schuldt’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  Her graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Fayetteville City Cemetery, 3364 Pierce Street, Fayetteville, Texas 78940.
