Harry Louis Smith, Sr.

Harry “Gator” “Pops” Louis Smith, Sr., 87, of Buna, died Friday, August 27, 2021.  He was born on February 8, 1934, in Beaumont, to Allie Eve Bellow Smith and Sidney Carmax Smith.

Harry enjoyed old western movies, hunting, and fishing.  He loved his family, and he never met a stranger.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Cardelia Smith; children, Scott Smith and his wife, Lisa and Stephen Smith and his wife, Tammy, all of Buna; and Tanya Green Gabebel and her fiancé, Darrell, of Vinton; grandsons, Brandon Spoonemore and his wife, Chloe, of Vidor; Garrett Smith of Colorado; Blake Smith of Buna; Justin Smith of Fort Worth; Chan Smith of Vidor; and Scottie Smith, Jr. and his wife, Gabby, of Buna; grandchildren, Lyndley Greene and his wife, Megan, of Orange; Laurel Gaebel of Vinton; Devon Balasel and her husband, Travis and Carly Smith, all of Buna; and Grace Smith of Waco; great-grandchildren, D’Lanic Spoonemore, Blakely Brown, Kason Brown, Addison Brown, and Cassie Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Harry Louis “Nicky” Smith, Jr., Sidney Smith, and Mark Smith; daughter, Teri Spoonemore May; brother, Sam Herbert Smith; and sister, Doris Joan Spears.

A gathering of Mr. Smith’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His interment to follow at Old Laurel Sudduth Bluff, Cemetery, Buna.
