Betty Jeane Goetz

May 15, 1924 - November 5, 2021

Betty Jean Kirsch Goetz, 97, formerly of Beaumont, died Friday, November 5, 2021, in Dallas, Texas

A native of Anaheim, California, Betty was born May 15, 1924, to John and Mary Kirsch.  Betty had two younger siblings: a sister Patricia and a brother Jack.

Betty met the love of her life, George Richard (Dick) Goetz, while he was in military training in California.  After the war, Dick was discharged, and they married in Anaheim.  They honeymooned all the way to Beaumont, Texas, where they lived in a one-bedroom apartment on Easy Street!  Betty and Dick had six children.  They were members of St Anne Catholic Church and Betty and Dick both sang in the St. Anne’s choir.  All six children attended St Anne’s Catholic School, so Betty was very busy with PTA!

After the kids left home, Betty worked with the Beaumont ISD – she just couldn’t get enough of the little people!  When Betty and Dick retired, they loved to travel in their trailer, visiting state parks and spending time at the lake. Betty never met a stranger, and everyone loved being around her.  She will be missed by everyone she touched in her life.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Dick, her youngest son Tom Goetz, her parents, and her sister Patricia.

Betty is survived by daughters Kathy Ridley and her husband Joe of Houston, Mary Sculley and her husband Pat of Dallas, Janet Greene and her husband John of Green Valley, Arizona; sons Bill Goetz and wife Janet of The Woodlands and John Goetz and his wife Janice of Flower Mound; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

We miss you, Mom, but we know you will still be looking out for us and now you have Dad to help!

A graveside service for Mrs. Goetz was held at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
