James Barnett

February 19, 1924 - February 7, 2022

James Barnett, 97, of Beaumont, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born February 19, 1924, in Krum, to Stella and James Barnett. James was a World War II United States Marine Corps veteran.

After getting out of the service, he walked on at TCU on a baseball scholarship, where he received his bachelor’s degree. After graduating, he went to work with the Texas City Independent School District in 1949.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Barnett of Beaumont; son, Clay Barnett of Texas City; daughter, Kendra Anderson of Hitchcock; grandson, Craig Anderson of League City; great-granddaughter, Landrie Anderson of League City; stepsons, Kyle and Dennis Akers of Colorado; and seven step-grandchildren.

Mr. Barnett’s cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wildwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 332, Village Mills, Texas 77663.
