Vaughan Edwyn Williams III

September 16, 1943 - March 11, 2022

Vaughan Edwyn Williams III, 78, died peacefully at his home in Nederland, Friday, March 11, 2022. He was born September 16, 1943, to Ruth and Vaughan Edwyn Williams, Jr., in Yonkers, New York. He attended Yorktown Heights High School where he graduated in 1962 and has continued to remain friends with his graduating class.

Upon graduation he entered the Air Force in with assignments to Lackland Air Force Base, TX; Keesler AFB MS; Stewart AFB, NY; Clark AB, Philippines; Ramstein AB Germany; Wiesbaden AB, Germany, and Blytheville AFB, AR. While stationed at Wiesbaden, he met Kathy. They married soon after and spent 53 years together, to the day. He left active duty in 1969 and moved back to New York where he worked in the electronics industry.

In 1976, he moved his family to Texas where he was employed by the 273rd Engineering Installation Squadron in Nederland as an Engineering Supervisor. Throughout his career, his leadership and mentorship helped shape the lives and careers of many. He was loved and admired by his military family. Ed retired from the Air National Guard in 1999 as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retirement he pursued his love of cooking, genealogy, historical research, staying up on current events, and his dog, but most of all, his grandkids.

He is survived by wife, Kathy Williams; children, Eddie Williams his wife Keisha, of Nederland; Amanda Daigle her husband Robert, of New Braunfels; Kimberly Pritchard and her husband Joe, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Lauryn Perego, Aidan Williams, Gavin Williams, Jaxson Pritchard, Owen Daigle, and Jordyn Pritchard; sister, Linda Love; brother, Lynn Williams and his wife, Dori; sister, Dale McCarthy; and his dog, Buddy.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ricky Williams.

A gathering of Mr. Williams’ family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Graveside funeral services will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches with full military honors under the auspices of the Barksdale AFB Honor Guard.
