Elaine Monteau

September 12, 1922 - August 23, 2017

Elaine Monteau, 94, of Sour Lake, passed away August 23, 2017, at The Arboretum of Winnie. She was born September 12, 1923, in Ged, Louisiana, to Rose Lafosse Callahan and Eli Callaihan.

“Maw Maw” as we lovingly called her, attended Catholic schools and was an avid basketball player. Elaine spent her entire life loving family, having a servants heart, but most of all, putting God first.

She is survived by sons, Billy Don Chiasson, of Houston; Darrell Callahan and his wife, Toni, of Snyder; daughter, Bonnie Sue Gibson, of Sour Lake; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents; husband, Cecil “Buck” Monteau; brothers, Ernest and Earl Callahan; sisters, Pearl Domain, Katherine Kyle, and son-in-law, Dale Gibson.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Monteau’s family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, with her funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her   interment will be at a later date.
