Marjorie Wright French
Marjorie “Midge” Wright French, 92, of Beaumont, died Monday, January 16, 2023. She was born on September 15, 1930, in Beaumont, to Beatrice and Colbert Wright. Midge was a lifelong resident of Beaumont and a graduate of Beaumont High School and Lamar University. She was a member of Calder Baptist Church since 1948. Midge taught preschool at St. Andrew’s Day School for many years. She loved music and the piano and taught piano to many children through the years.
In 1950, Midge married the love of her life, Burton W. French, Jr. who preceded her in death in 2014. Survivors include their sons, Dan French and his friend, Laurie Schanot; Robert “Bob” French and his wife, Beth; and Burton French and his wife, Joan; eleven grandchildren, Dan Brady, Phillip, Betsy, Stephanie “Niki”, John, David, William, Rachel, Natalie, Cassie, Aiyana; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Wright.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beaumont Heritage Society, 3025 French Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
A gathering of Mrs. French’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont, with a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont.

I will miss my dear friend Midge aka “Frenchie”, but I know she is so happy to be reunited with Mr. Burt and all her gal pals. So full of life, love and energy – always touching the lives of those around her with her beautiful smile and warm heart. I will treasure all the memories we made and shared through the years. What an amazing legacy you leave behind knowing how many people you impacted with your loving, kind and sweet spirit – always serving those around you as a true reflection of Christ and his love. Heaven is rejoicing to have such a wonderful soul called home. Enjoy your wings my sweet friend.
What a personal warmth and Southern hospitality smile Midge had! She struck fear in my heart though when I had to say my GA memory work to complete my advancement steps. A kind and loving lady always.

We are so sad to hear of your Mothers passing. Midge was always sweet, loving and sincere. She had such a way of always making you feel welcome and included. Many Blessings to your family.
Midge taught my son in preschool Sunday school and that was over 35 years ago. I believe she also helped when Paige my granddaughter came through. She was always at the door smiling, and helping as a Kitchenette. I had the privilege of being on several committees with her. I know she’s happy to be with Burt. Sendings hugs to Bob and Beth.

Once, I heard Midge’s mother Bea Wright say “All my friends are gone, and I don’t know why I am still here.”
May I give Bea, Midge, and Others a short answer: Those Voices and Those Smiles! And of growing up at Calder Baptist church!

So sad to hear of her passing. It’s been about a year since I saw her and, as always, she was so beautiful, loving, smart and had such knowledge with respect to our family. A vital part of our family all of my life. You will be missed!

I am so sorry to see this. I met Midge when I went to work at the John French Museum. She was so kind. I know she will be greatly missed by many.
