Michael Wayne Valentine
Michael Wayne Valentine, 62, of Fannett, passed away peacefully at his sister’s home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 10, 2023. Mike was born in Pontiac, Illinois, on April 21, 1960, to Wayne and Joan (Conkle) Valentine. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1978 and has been a Fannett resident for over 40 years. Mike attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fannett.
Mike was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on equipment. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle. He loved his nieces and nephews more than anything. They were his pride and joy.
Mike was co-owner of Wayne and Mike’s Upholstery for many years working alongside his dad. He joined the IBEW 479 apprenticeship school and worked for several years as a journeyman electrician. He was a truck owner and operator before he retired.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Joan Valentine.
Survivors include his sister, Pam Stokes and husband, Walter, of Hamshire, Texas; 3 nieces, Karrie Talbott and husband, Shane, of Edgewood, Texas; Kandace Selman and husband, Dean, of Hamshire, Texas; and Kelli Stokes of Galveston, Texas; 1 nephew, Christopher Stokes and wife, Emily, of Starkville, Mississippi; 6 great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-nephew on the way.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical team at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the hospice caregivers for taking such great care of him.
A Rosary for Mr. Valentine will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett. His interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery, Hamshire.

We are so sorry about Mike. He was always so good about calling Don, he’d call often and check on him, especially since he retired. We already miss those long talks. We are praying for all of you. Please know he was loved and will be missed.
O my sweet sweet Mike. I had a moment when I read this and saw your beautiful face. Then I realized that you would say something like “kimmy when it’s our time it’s our time”. God put you and Pam in my life as a child and He knew as a grown adult you would both be what I needed. We lost touch a time or two but we were steadfast in our love for each other.
I will forever cherish the scars on my leg from out motorcycle ride, I will always remember the orange tic tac candies you’d get for me and mostly I will forever love you as my best man friend. ????????????
