Dorothy N. Allen

Dorothy N. Allen, 88, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017. She was born on December 14, 1928, to Mary Taylor Sauls and Cecil Ray Sauls, in Waco. Dorothy loved art and ceramics and was owner of Hobby Craft Ceramics and Gifts in Beaumont for many years.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-nine years, Eugene “Gene” R. Allen, Sr.; sons, Eugene “Randy” R. Allen, Jr. and his wife, Shelley and Kenneth Allen and his wife, Patricia, all of Lumberton; daughter, Laura Hollis and her husband, Phillip, of Beaumont; brothers, Melvin Sauls and his wife, Alice, of Bon Wier and Bill Sauls and his wife, Judy, of Nederland; sisters, Velma Jean Hamerly of Orange and EllaDee Anders of Vidor; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Linda Shirey.

A gathering of Mrs. Allen’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. Serving as pallbearers will be: George Shirey, Davon Bledsoe, Chris Benefield, Andrew Stumph, Joshua Hollis, and Erik Delarosa.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers: Lisa Guillory, Patricia Moten, Gaylynn Landry, Claudia Thibeault, and the staff of A*MED Hospice in Texas City.
