Travis A. Stark
Travis A. Stark, 101, of Port Neches, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1922, in Blox, Texas, to Georgia May Dougharty Stark and George Robert Stark. Travis proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
After serving in the United States Army, Travis began working for Texaco Inc. He then married Bernis Kraus and they had one daughter, Lyndal Ann. He later became the proud grandfather of two granddaughters, Rachel and Lisa, and the great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren.
Travis spent his life loving God and his family. He will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughter, Lyndal Ardoin and her husband, Bill, of Lumberton; granddaughters, Rachel Cameron and her husband, Bill, and Lisa Sawchak and her husband, Nick, all of Lumberton; great-grandchildren, Kade Cameron, Landon Cameron, Travis, Sawchak, Taylor Sawchak, and Jody Rose Sawchak; brother, Albert “Pete” Stark and his wife, Cynthia, of Kirbyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and George Stark; wife, Bernis Alma Kraus Stark; brother, Robert Roy Stark; and sisters, Edna Mae Smith, Faye Davis, Maudy Cuskelly, Bobbie Lou Walker, Arvie “Ruthie” Young, and Alma L’Esperance.
A gathering of Travis’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment will follow at Ford Chapel Cemetery, Newton.

I am the widow Linda Walker of George R Walker’s wife, from Lumberton Tx. Travis was a very dear Man to me, very respectful wonderful person. My husband, George R Walker, use to call Travis every Saturday morning and talk to Travis at lease a hour. He loved his Uncle Travis . RIP Travis I love you always. Linda Walker
Dear Lyndal, Rachel & Lisa,
I’m so glad Syble and I got to meet all of you at Silsbee Oaks, while Mr. Starks was there! He was truly a blessed friend of Buddy’s (Samuel Sanders). When Buddy fell a few weeks ago, I had to go by the Silsbee Oaks to get Buddy some clean clothes to go back there! When I stepped into that room, he was so excited to see me! Even though he couldn’t see me he knew who I was and had to know all about Buddy/ where he was and why! Buddy had sent him a message that he was coming back to hold on he wanted to see him and missed him! Mr. Stark told me very, very Energetically, “ you tell my friend I said you hold on, you hear me I said you hold on”! So I did and Buddy relaxed and started getting better!
We were so thankful for the love he showed us! We brought him coffee, he would always tell me, now I like it real hot, & he would always, here lately he wanted me to talk with him! If he wanted anything I would push the light for he was so grateful. The last time we saw him Saturday the 8th! He greeted us as usual, but it was different, he took both of my hands in his and told me he knew I was a good person and beautiful even though he couldn’t see, he could tell by my voice! He thanked me for helping him and caring about him even though I was not a nurse or an aide or even kin to him! He then told me he loved me! Then did the same thing to Syble! We are so sorry for your loss! We miss him already so much!
Just wanted to let you know!
May God comfort you and yours as only He can do! You will always have him as long as you keep his stories alive! Keep passing them on to the new generations so they will know how great he was! Not everyone makes it to 101!

Not only was Mr. Buddy a wonderful roommate, but he and the two of you became beloved friends to Dad and all of us and we are forever grateful for your love. You all are truly a blessing to our family and we will love you always. May the Lord Jesus bless you all.
