Elliott Gail Bounds

Elliott Gail Bounds, 81, of Beaumont, Texas, died Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on August 28, 1941, to Robbie Louise Whipple Bounds and Gail M. Bounds, in Abilene, Texas. Elliott was a 1959 graduate of Beaumont High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1961-1963 after being honorably discharged. He married his wife, Kay, in 1964, at St. Anthony Cathedral, and they were married for 57 years and together raised 3 amazing daughters. Elliott retired as Engine 4 Captain of the Beaumont Fire Department after 27 years of service from 1964-1991.

He was a great husband to his late wife. He and his late wife loved bowling. Elliott enjoyed hunting, golf, baseball, horseracing, cooking, and gardening. He loved watching his grandson, Justin, play sports.

Survivors include his children, Kristine Smith and her husband, Greg, Linda Bounds, and Shannon Bounds, all of Beaumont; grandchildren, Justin Smith and Chase Smith; and great-grandchild, Sutton Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary “Kay” C. Bounds; and brother, Paul Bounds.

A gathering of Mr. Bounds’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Broussard’s. His interment with Military Honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
