Raymond G. Edwards
Raymond G. Edwards, 88, of Lumberton, died Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born June 9, 1935, in Beaumont, to Wilma E. Field Edwards and Orville L. Edwards. Raymond was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at Pyramid Concrete Pipe in Beaumont for thirty-four years and later drove a truck for Miller Transporters, Inc. for several years before retiring.
Raymond was a “Jack of all Trades”. He had many hobbies. He loved woodworking and made many cherished pieces for family and friends through the years. He enjoyed gardening and often planted a garden full of vegetables, especially his beloved okra. He also enjoyed family cookouts and had his own catering business, Mr. Brisket, for many years.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 65 years, Becky E. Burns Edwards; daughter, Brenda Swain and her husband, David, of New Braunfels; sons, Mark Edwards and his wife, Edie, of Magnolia; and Kevin Edwards and his wife, Tracy, of Lumberton; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Lee Edwards.
A gathering of Mr. Edwards’ family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Loeb, 3082 US-69, Lumberton, TX. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I met Raymond during our years in the Lumberton Lions Club. We worked together building the Lion Club Rodeo arena and club house for many years. I remember him letting me cut in to some pipes that was filled with sulphur (I did not know it, but the guys all did), they set me up. Anyway it blew up and and I melted while Ray and the other Lions all laughed that the “banker guy” trying to cut pipe.
We had some great times and he was always willing to help others. Praying for the family, love to all, Gary Osberg
My first boyfriend , curly hair , mom made shirts and a Jeep! I dearly loved Becky and Raymond all these years , a great friendship we had . Becky you were a wonderful wife and caregiver and I am glad his suffering is over !I am here for you and I love you 😢

I loved him and Becky all these years and so relived his suffering is over.My sweet Becky was a wonderful wife and care giver ,, There. are many of us who feel what your going thru and we are there to be comfort to you and your family . Mr Edwards was a fine man and I will miss him greatly. He always had something to tell me about your family when I saw him. He loved you all dearly and I could clearly see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. He will be missed by all whose lives were touched by him.
