Adele Bridget Harrington

Adele Bridget Harrington, 97, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died Sunday, October 1, 2023. She was born on September 22, 1926, in Thornwell, Louisiana, to Mary Monlezun and Gabriel Broussard. Adele worked for Gulf States Utilities in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she met her husband, Paul Harrington. Adele and her family moved to Beaumont, Texas in 1958 and were long time members of St Anne’s Catholic Church. Adele sang in the choir at St. Anne’s and at St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont, and volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Adele moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1993 where she was an active member of St. George Catholic Church for many years.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Harrington, Kevin Harrington and wife, Patty; daughters, Jeanette Wightman and husband, Reid; and Bridget Culotta; stepdaughter, Mary Ann Gilbert; sisters, Catherine Smith and husband, Billy; Sister Magdalen Broussard, M.S.C.; sister-in-law, Betty Broussard; grandchildren, Jude Harrington and wife, Amity; Paul Culotta; Thomas Culotta; Ashley Halphen and husband, Joseph; Chris Harrington and wife, Michelle; Kate Dunfee and husband, Stephen; Patrick Tickner; Chris Gilbert; Taressa Anderson; great-grandchildren, Claire, Ellen, Katherine, Audrey, Ayden, Kade, Kaleb, Amanda, Jayson, Brittany, Emily, and Jack; five great-great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Mary Broussard; husband, Paul Alvin Harrington; son, David Harrington; son-in-law, Leonard Culotta; brother, Patrick E. Broussard; sisters; Irene Coco; Sister Lurline Marie Broussard, M.S.C.; former husband, Reagan duPerier; and his son, Reagan duPerier, Jr.

A Rosary for Mrs. Harrington will be recited at 9:30 a.m., with a gathering of family and friends to follow until a Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

    Loss of limbs – feet and hands did not allow me to attend Adele’s funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother and sisters and their respective families. I will always remember her kindness and giving a helping hand.
