Dolores Elsie Foote Montondon

Dolores Elsie Foote Montondon, 90, of Bridge City, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She was born October 18, 1932, in Port Arthur, to Hazel Florence Suit Foote and Newton Irving Foote, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Dolores’ number one priority in life was her family.  She embodied what it means to commit a mother’s life to nurture and love her children and husband.  She was a wonderful cook and that was one of the primary ways she expressed her love.  Her gumbo remains unparalleled.  She sewed beautifully, played the piano, was an avid reader, and loved to laugh.  She was kind and gentle and was known for her quick wit and dry sense of humor.  She loved her people completely and her loyalty to them never wavered.  She lived a beautiful life, not without its sorrows or hardships, but she made many things possible for her family through the foundation of love she provided and her fierce support.  She made a difference in the world simply through her deep love of her family and those close to her.

Survivors include her children, Dallas Montondon and wife, Andrea; Adrienne Montondon Skiles and husband, Tommy; and Suzanne Montondon Smith and husband, Cal; grandchildren, Jason Montondon, Leigh Ann Montondon, Keene Wilson, Parke Wilson, Boone Howard, Lauren Hill, Brooke Hill, and Vivian Smith; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Castillo, Madilyn Castillo,  Ava Montondon and James Wilson; sister, Charlotte Holstead; and brother-in-law, Rusty Montondon.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Montondon; son, Travis Montondon; sister, Loretta Cross; brothers, Newton Foote, Jr., Kenneth Foote, and Ralph Foote and great-grandson, Rhett Wilson.

A gathering of Mrs. Montondon’s family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
