Doris Faye Challie
Doris Faye Challie, 94, of Beaumont, died Monday, November 6, 2023, at Gilbert’s Assisted Living, Beaumont. She was born on May 6, 1929, to Alice Artlea Whidon Moseley and Luther Thomas Moseley, in Jena, Louisiana.
Doris and her two sons, Vernon and Terry, opened New Dimensions Hair Salon in 1975. She loved her family, was strong willed, capable, determined, God fearing and made the most out of every moment she could. Doris enjoyed puzzles on quiet days and traveling the country via motor home. She loved being “Mamoo” to her grandchildren. Quilting was a passionate hobby of hers, and she was an excellent cook, especially at Thanksgiving.
Survivors include her son, Terry Wiggins; grandchildren, Shea Legion Wiggins, Leif Wiggins and his wife, Amber, Trey Wiggins, Marcey Perkins, Wesley Perkins, and Vincent Wiggins; great-grandchildren, Shea Legion Wiggins, Jr., Veronica Wiggins, and Zayden Kahlil; and sister, Alyne Wright.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dominic Challie, Jr.; son, Vernon Archie, Jr.; daughter, Debbie Lynn Perkins; brothers, L.T. Moseley and Herbert Moseley; and sister, Grace Sizemore.
A gathering of Mrs. Challie’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Terry I’m so sorry for the loss of your mother. She was really special and I know you loved her very much. Just saw this and I’m sorry for being so late. Wish I could have been there for you like you were there for me. Take care brother.
Aunt Doris, I shall miss you very much. I’ll remember those 6 months we spent together a few years back. Although, rocky at times, I’ll cherish them always. I’ll never forget you were my first employer when I was just 17, you taught me a lot about the work force. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for taking me under your wing.
