John Delta Lamar

October 10, 1941 - November 29, 2023

John Delta Lamar, 82, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. John was a Beaumont native, resident of Vidor, and United States Navy Veteran. In addition to his military service, John’s career spanned both the railroad industry and long-haul trucking.

John is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Cheryl Lynne Lamar; his daughters, Nicole Lynne Lamar George of Dayton and Libby Michelle Lamar Kibbe and her husband, Justin, of Houston; his cherished grandchildren, Avery George and Macy George; his sister, Sue Simmons and her husband, Jimmy, of Boyd; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Libby Margaret Vidrine Lamar and Paul Lamar, Sr., and his brothers, Paul Lamar, Jr., and Pat Lamar.

Known for his warm and welcoming demeanor, John never met a stranger. A true Cajun at heart, he found joy in dancing, cooking, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. His sense of humor was legendary, and he was famous for his jokes, turning ordinary moments into laughter-filled memories that would be cherished by all who knew him.

As we remember John, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of connection. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of the memories he created and the love he shared with family and friends.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2955 South Major Drive, Beaumont.

His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
