George E. Pate
George E. Pate, 88, of Nederland, died Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was born on December 27, 1928, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, to Vada Nichols Pate and Luther Melvin Pate.
George retired from Goodyear as a maintenance foreman after thirty years of service. He was a fifty-year member of Nederland Lodge #1368 A.F. & A.M. George enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, walking, and mechanics. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Nederland and was an avid Bulldog fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, daddy, and Papa.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Ann Pate of Nederland; daughters, Kathy Farris and her husband, John, of Colmesneil; Debby Madding and her husband, Rob, of Jasper; and Jan Pate of Nederland; grandchildren, Tim Farris and his wife, Chrystal; Lori Johnson and her husband, Steve; Kim McMains and her husband, Cory; Clint Chambless and his wife, Brooke; Derek Chambless and his wife, Lyndsi; Lindsey Madding; and Lauren Grigsby and her husband, Jason; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Evelyn Williams of McAlestar, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Vada Pate; and sister, Faye White.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Pate may be made to First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627.
A gathering of Mr. Pate’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
