March 13, 1948 - December 3, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Henrietta “Tot” Askew, who left this earthly realm peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 75.

Tot was born on March 13, 1948, in Gist, to T. D. and Virlle Smith. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her husband, Kenneth Askew, for fifty-seven years and together they created a wonderful family of two children.

In addition to her role as a wife and mother, Tot was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee.

Tot also had a love for cooking and anytime her beloved grandchildren requested, she would prepare whatever they wanted. According to them, Nannie’s was the best! Nannie will always be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was the strongest woman we’ve ever known. She was a huge supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her memory will be cherished by all who know her.

Tot is survived by her husband, Kenneth Askew; two children, Kenetha Woods and Lynn Askew and his wife, Diana; five grandchildren, Josh Woods and his wife, Jamie; Tiffany Gates and her husband, Justin; Haley Cook and her husband, Joseph; Dalton Askew and his wife, Madison; and Dawson Askew and his wife, Brooke; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla and Abigail Woods; Weston, Luke, and Ace Gates; Addison and Sawyer Cook; and one sweet baby girl on the way.

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Charles Smith, MaryAnn Meaux, Elma Williams, and Archie Smith. Tot was preceded in death by her parents, T. D. and Virlle Smith and her brother, Michael Smith.

Tot will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
