Richard Ernest Quillen, Jr.

Richard Ernest Quillen, Jr., 66, of Silsbee, died Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1957, in Bloomington, Indiana, to Lois I. Boreff Quillen and Richard Ernest Quillen, Sr.

Survivors include his children, Dawn Swarthout and her husband, Mike, of Lumberton; J. C. Gilbert of McRae, Arkansas; Elijah Quillen and his wife, Brandi, of Vidor; Stephen Gilbert and his wife, Becky, of Lumberton; and Amy Jo Quillen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, Jordan Goss and his wife, Lizzie, of Beebee, Arkansas; Logan Goss and his wife, Lauren, and Kaitlan Swarthout, all of Lumberton; Mikal McKee and his wife, Stormy, of Silsbee; Aiden Quillen, Kaylinn Quillen and Cullen Quillen, all of Vidor; Olivia Newman, Alysson Fay Gilbert and Lance Dunbar, all of Lumberton; and Maverick Dunbar and Layla Dunbar, both of Silsbee; twelve great-grandchildren; and siblings, Judy McDougle of Indiana; Fred Quillen of Michigan; Joyce Green of Florida; Velma Newsom and her husband, Paul; and Ruth Quillen Roberts, all of North Carolina; Greg Quillen of Silsbee; Harold Quillen of Kentucky; and Randy Quillen and his wife, Nicole, of Silsbee.

Mr. Quillen is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Fay Wiggins Quillen; and siblings, Ray Quillen and Martha Quillen.

A gathering of Mr. Quillen’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment will follow at Cunningham Cemetery, Silsbee.
