Judith Ann Philen

October 23, 1953 - January 14, 2024

Judith Ann Philen, 70, of Beaumont, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on October 23, 1953, to Herman and Betty Spence, in Henderson, Texas.

Judy graduated with top honors from French High School in Beaumont in 1972. She wrote poetry, loved to sing and had a beautiful soprano voice, singing in the choir at Pine Burr Baptist Church for many years.

Judy was a gentle soul with a kind heart, and she was a dedicated animal rights advocate, always doing whatever she could to make their lives better.

She worked in patient accounts at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for 30 years, and co-workers and patients alike loved and appreciated her kindness and caring attitude.

Judy is survived by her husband, Richard Philen, and one sister, Gail Abshire, both of Beaumont. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Donations may be made in Judy’s memory to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

Mrs. Philen’s graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024, at Duncan Cemetery, 9346 County Road 454, Henderson, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

    Judy from Pine Burr Baptist years ago. A very gracious and sweet lady ,always a sweet smile. A beautiful voice and blessed to had her in the choir. I know she will be missed by everyone.
