Alma Lee Kirby

September 25, 1934 - March 26, 2024

Alma Lee Rollins Kirby, 89, of Nederland, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with her loving family and church friends by her side. Alma was a firm believer in God and was comforted by her strong faith and the love of her family and friends.

Alma was born on September 25, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas to Milton and Mary Rollins. She was a member of Triangle Baptist Church in Nederland where she played the piano and handbells and also donated her time to the church by helping with Vacation Bible School and with the flowerbed. Alma graduated from South Park High School and Lamar Tech. She met her husband, Donald W. Kirby at Pure Oil where she was a plant secretary. She left the workforce to raise her family. She was involved in PTA and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting, needlepoint, traveling, her animals, and her favorite of them all going to her beach cabin. Not a day went by when Alma didn’t talk about how much her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant to her. She loved attending all of their extracurricular activities. Alma was a strong and wonderful person who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Erickson and husband, Cary “Alma’s favorite son-in-law;” grandchildren, Ashley Delage and husband, A.J.; Carley Erickson; Jacob Erickson and fiancé, Tabetha; Josh Erickson and wife, Chelsea; and Rachel Lopez and husband, Zach; great-grandchildren, Anders Delage, Bronson Delage, Collier Delage, Tessa Erickson, Annabeth Erickson, Joshua Erickson, Gabriel Lopez, and Carmen Lopez; and sister, Jeanette O’Dell; and her dear cousin, Marie Stelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Wayne Kirby; and daughter, Donna Rae Kirby.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Triangle Baptist Church, U.S. 69 Access Road, Nederland, Texas 77627 or The Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

Sandra, I never know what to say but know I’m thinking of you and your family. I’m sure that they and all the memories you have of your mom (I’m know you have some great ones) will ease the pain of your loss. I’ll never forget her wit and, how this nice, quiet, church going lady could comment on something with just a few words that would crack you up with laughter (once they picked their jaw up off the floor. lol). Let’s just say, I laugh every time I think of the Heritage Festival Pageant. As long as we carry those we’ve lost in our heart, they’re still with us and we’ll see them again. All my love, Kelly
