David D. Fountain

January 4, 1937 - May 12, 2024

David D. Fountain, 87, of Beaumont, died Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Calder Woods, Beaumont.

David was born on January 4, 1937, to Zelma and Henry Fountain. He had one brother, Lyndon.  They lived a simple and quiet life in Warren, Texas, where they worked and attended church. He also loved to play basketball. With his 6’4” height, he played the post position and during his senior year was named First Team All-State.  He also held the record for most free throws made for a high school career.

After high school, he married Annie Elise Best.  They had four children together, Scott, Larry, Lance and Lisa. David and Anne were married for 32 years.

To provide for his family, David began working with his father in residential construction where they built numerous homes in the Beaumont area.  He later worked at Dupont as a chemical operator in the Acrylonitrile unit until his retirement after 35+ years of service.

Throughout the years, David loved fishing, hunting, working on cars and construction projects.  He took yearly hunting trips to Colorado with his friends and his son.  When his children were young, he coached their baseball and football teams.

David later married Virginia Goodman and were together for 31 years.  They loved to go fishing, traveling to the mountains and spending time with all the kids and grandkids.  They attended Calvary Baptist church together.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Fountain; sons, David Scott Fountain and his wife, Kelley, of Nederland; James Larry Fountain and his wife, Melisa, of Hamshire; and Lance Lanier Fountain and his wife, Lori, of Fannett; daughter, Lisa Colleen Fountain-Potter and her husband, Victor, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jake Fountain, Ryan Elliot Fountain, Whitnee Fountain, Gage Fountain, Tyler Williams, Adam Potter, Andrew Potter, and Alex Potter; stepson, Faron Goodman of Kirbyville; step granddaughter, Shannon Collins and step great-grandchild, Daxton Collins, both of Sour Lake; and stepdaughter, Angela Parkhill and her husband, Bill, of Nome.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herbert Lyndon Fountain; and sister-in-law, Rita Fountain.

A gathering of Mr. Fountain’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
