Joan Adair Shultz

August 27, 1950 - May 11, 2024

Joan Adair Shultz, 73, of Jasper, was called home to our Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2024. She was born on August 27, 1950, in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Betty Williams and Donald William Cherry.

Joan lived her life serving the Lord and her Family. She never knew a stranger and would always enjoy a good conversation with anyone who she met in life.  Passing on the love of Jesus Christ to whomever would listen.

Joan and Syrelle made their way to Texas from Pennsylvania, then Arizona and settled in Beaumont for a time. Eventually moving to Jasper to raise their two children with a small-town atmosphere.

Joan was a hard worker in life and was never one to sit around and wait for something to be done. If she could do it, then she’d do it. She enjoyed visiting Antique stores and adding to her collection over the years, occasionally bringing home a piece for Syrelle to work on and restore for her. She had an eye for old things, and her own unique decorative style. Everyone that would come to her home would be in awe of her home, and Joan was never one to turn someone away without a good history lesson about the many collections she had. Throughout her life, Joan was known for always lending a hand where she could, whether it was church, volunteering, or a neighbor. She was the type of person that “people had” when they needed someone.  Joan lived her life on her terms, the way she wanted and was happy for it.  She will be loved and greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Syrelle Shultz; children, Ryan Shultz of Beaumont, and Cherri Ann Prilop and her husband, Nathan, of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Kade Shultz of Conroe; Kodey Shultz of Beaumont; Alexander Shultz of Beaumont; siblings, Betsy McConnell; Dale Cherry; Dwayne Cherry; and Patricia Henrichs; and sister-in-law, Chardae Decker.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Donna Hagen; and brother, Bill Cherry.

Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Shultz were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
