James “Jim” Suire

March 11, 1936 - June 10, 2024

James “Jim” Suire, 88, of Beaumont, died on Monday, June 10, 2024.  He was born on March 11, 1936, in Beaumont, to Louise Bourque Suire and Nicholas Suire, and was a United States Navy veteran.

Jim lived his life with intention and honor.  His dedication to his faith and church guided his steps and his love for his family guided his hands.  Being a provider was important to him as was making people laugh.  Jim was proud to serve both church and country as a veteran of the United States Navy and a Fourth Degree Knight.  He was a faithful member of St. Jude church and lover of all things Cajun. His open heart and generous spirit made anyone feel instantly comfortable. Jim will be remembered as fun-loving, faithful, doting, and dutiful.  He was a dedicated servant to all and loved any opportunity to go out dancing which he called “honky-tonkin”.

Survivors include his children, Starr Thurber of Asheville, North Carolina; Russell Suire and his wife, Laura, of Spring; Mary Tate and her husband, Johnny, of Winnie; and Jamie Knox and her husband, Zach, of Asheville, North Carolina. Grandchildren, Trey Thurber, Connaught James Thurber, Nicholas Suire, Jillian Suire, Jonathan James Tate, Kira Tate, and Margo Carmaleen Knox. Step-grandchildren, Kellan Morgan, Brett Morgan, Kate Hutchison, Kristi Johnson, and Rachael Whynot. Siblings, Janice Boden, David Suire, and Dalton Suire; and girlfriend, Violet Arena.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Carmaleen Suire and Althea Suire; and siblings Audrey Porter, Don Suire, and Allen Suire.

Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 951, 9505 College Street, Beaumont, Texas 77707.

A gathering of Mr. Suire’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the Family Life Center at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont.  His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
