Janelle T. Sharp

July 30, 1929 - June 10, 2024

Janelle Teresa Prevost Vest Sharp, 94, of Beaumont, passed away on June 10, 2024, in Beaumont. She was born on July 30, 1929, in Beaumont, to Arthur J. and Elvidge Prevost. She was one of eight children raised in Beaumont, where she graduated from Beaumont High School.

Janelle was a lifelong member of the Sabine Tabernacle in Beaumont, where she had deep roots in the Gospel of Christ. It has been that love of Christ that was always her guide.

On October 28, 1953, she married Oscar John Vest, Jr, of Beaumont. They had two children, Oscar John Vest III and Suzanne Vest. Her husband, Oscar, precedes her in death.

In 1981, she graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and becoming a Registered Nurse. Janelle worked at Baptist Hospital until her retirement.

In 2005, Jan succumbed to his relentless pursuit of her and married Col. George Rhea Sharp at Barksdale Air Force Base, in Louisiana. In 2016, she lost her loving husband, George R. Sharp.

Janelle is also preceded in death by her son, Oscar John Vest III; five brothers, Wilks Prevost, Clyde Prevost, Murray Prevost, Malcom Prevost, and Ed Prevost; and two sisters, Vernice Prevost Davis and Joyce Prevost Webb.

Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Vest Haskett and her husband, Johnny, of Beaumont; daughter-in-law, Lorna Brumbeloe Vest of Lake Charles, Louisiana; granddaughters, Keri Shay and her husband, Pete, of Sour Lake; Rachel Cordova and her husband, Justin, of Beaumont; and Kimberly Franke and her husband, Chad, of Lake Charles; grandsons, Jonathan Haskett and his wife, Carrie, of Beaumont and Keith Vest and his wife, Caren, of Colorado Springs. Jan was the proud great-grandmother of fourteen.

A gathering of Mrs. Sharp’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
