Paula “Nannie” Stubblefield

March 27, 1953 - June 21, 2024

Paula “Nannie” Stubblefield, 71, of Sour Lake, died Friday, June 21, 2024, at Christus Southeast Texas- St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.  She was born on March 27, 1953, to Verlie (Wilson) Anderson and Leon Shelby Anderson, in Demopolis, Alabama.

It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to our beloved mother and grandmother, who recently passed away at the age of 71. Born a military child, she roamed the globe from a young age, soaking in the diverse cultures of the world. Her life was a vivid tapestry, woven with vibrant hues of love, faith, and adventure.

In 1972, she met Tom, the love of her life, and together they embarked on a journey that spanned over five decades. Their bond was unbreakable, a testament to commitment and devotion that inspired all who knew them.

From a young age, she captivated audiences with her graceful movements in ballet and modern dance. Her talent even caught the eye of the prestigious New York City Ballet. In high school, she twirled fire batons with unmatched skill and flair, leaving spectators in awe and even managing to catch her hair on fire once.

She was a colorful soul, magnetic in her presence, with a passion for helping others that knew no bounds. Her dedication to her Christian faith and her Savior, Jesus Christ, was unwavering, shaping her into a beacon of light and hope for those around her.

A fitness enthusiast and avid traveler, she found joy in kayaking and exploring the wonders around her. Her zest for life was infectious, drawing people to her like moths to a flame.

Within her church family, she found a community that nurtured her faith and talents, while she, in turn, poured her heart into caring for others. Beyond the church walls, she embraced countless children as her own, earning the title of “mom” from many of her kid’s friends over the years.

Her humor was infectious, her silliness boundless, and her unique vocabulary of made-up words still echoes in the laughter of her children and grandchildren. Exuberant in spirit, she never failed to leave her mark wherever she went, always with her signature touch of lipstick and red nails.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Stubblefield; children, Julie Evans and her husband, John, of Pulham, England; Elizabeth Stubblefield of Beaumont, and Kimberly Dauriac and her husband, Nick, of Helotes; grandchildren, Taylor Factor, Wyatt Factor, Olivia Wysingle, Aiden Dauriac and Jillian Dauriac; great-grandchild, Callum Kerr; fur baby, Daisy Stubblefield; and numerous extended family friends and loved ones over the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of Mrs. Stubblefield’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
