Nelwyn Cook

January 27, 1925 - March 29, 2018

Nelwyn Earle Cook, 93, of Beaumont, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Center, Texas. She was born on January 27 1925, in Beaumont, to Pearl E. Walker and Lloyd D. Bowers.

She made awesome chocolate pies. Nelwyn spent many years making custom drapes for families in the Beaumont area. She followed Ernest to rodeos and many horse shows. They also loved to go dancing on the weekends. Nelwyn also spent many hours crocheting afghans for family and friends. Nelwyn got her greatest joy of having her family visiting and having meals together. She also loved springtime and would plant many pots of petunias, pansies, and African violets.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Nelwyn is survived by her grandchildren, Shanna Verret and her husband, Hoss, of Winne; Shawn Morgan and his wife, Kelli, of Beaumont; Jenean Adams and her husband, Wayne, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Lana Hicks and her husband, Jeff, of Sulphur, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Justin Morgan and his wife, Kaylee and Caleb Verret, all of Beaumont; Tana Frye and Brooke Jones and her husband, Eric; and Brayden Adams, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Keli Morgan, of Beaumont; Tyler Ray and McKenzie Linscomb, both of Sulphur, Louisiana; Kassi Morgan, of Beaumont; Kendall Frye, of Oregon; and Lauren Adams, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Ernest Cook; daughters, Brenda Cook Hennigan and Carolyn Lee Cook; two brothers; and one sister.

A graveside service for Mrs. Cook will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2018, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38501.
