Christine Marrs

Christine Marrs, 95, of Kountze, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Pine Arbor Nursing, Silsbee. She was born on January 9, 1923, in Harris County, to Sara Arvilla Butler and Gilley Edward Strother.

Survivors include her daughters, Adah Riley, Ann Walters, and Dorothy Boatright, all of Kountze; grandchildren, Charles Riley, James Walters, Scott Walters, Donna McCarthy, and John Robert Pounds; eleven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents; husband of thirty-seven years, Hugh Floyd Marrs; grandson, Joseph Marrs; sisters, Lurline, Dorothy, Ann, Melba, and Opal; brother, Cecil; and her son-in-law, Bo Riley.

A gathering of Mrs. Marrs’ family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2018, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her interment will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
