Mildred Faye Crain

Mildred Faye Crain, 85, of Kountze, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She was born on October 29, 1931, in Monticello, Mississippi, to Ollie Lee Conerly and Joseph Cullen Smith.

Mrs. Crain was a graceful Christian lady, who loved her husband and family and was always ready to have her children and grandchildren around. She was active in her church, teaching children and playing the piano. Mildred enjoyed making many costumes for plays. She also liked to crochet and did beautiful work.

Survivors include her husband, Aaron Crain of Kountze; children, Rhonda Taylor; David Simmons and his wife, Mary; and Danny Crain; grandchildren, Steve Garlaska, Jason Garlaska, Rachael Larson, Misty Martin, Keith Simmons, Josh Simmons, Jamie Ayres; siblings, Ray Smith, Dale Smith, Evelyn Randall, and Christine Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Roger Simmons; grandson, Justin Simmons; siblings, Joseph Smith, Jr., Robert Smith, Annie Reed, Lucille Frussell, James A. Smith, Racheal Smith, Darlene Torok, and Joe Troy Smith.

A gathering of Mrs. Crain’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her interment will follow at Jordan Cemetery, Honey Island.
