Jacqueline Brinson

April 10, 1934 - February 9, 2020

Jacqueline Marie Brinson, 84, of Lumberton, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont, from complications of pneumonia.

She was born on April 10, 1934, in Iota, Louisiana, to Richard Taylor Martin and Thelma Louise Richard. Jacqueline was an only child. She grew up in DeRidder, Louisiana, before moving to Beaumont. Jacqueline graduated from Beaumont High School in 1952 and attended Lamar University.

Jacqueline married Alton Atwood Bayless on February 14, 1953. They were married for forty-three years, until his passing in 1996. She later met Wilson Brinson and they were married September 6, 1997.

She was a longtime resident of Lumberton and a devoted member of Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Jacqueline also devoted her life to her family and raising her two sons, Curby Martin Bayless and John Alan Bayless. Jacqueline made sure her children received a good education and she showed up for all of their accomplishments. Jacqueline worked full-time at Gulf States and later worked part-time at Infant Jesus Catholic Church as a secretary.

Jacqueline loved spending time reading and was never happier than when she was surrounded by friends and family. Jacqueline loved traveling in her motor home.

Survivors include her husband, Wilson Brinson; son and daughter-in-law, John and Stephanie Bayless; daughter-in-law, Lisa Louise Bayless; stepson, Barry Brinson; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Wahl; grandchildren, Morgan Elise Bayless; Garrett Ray Peters and his wife, April Peters; Monika Rosa-Kathleen Vider; and Cole Alton Bayless; and step-grandson, Daniel Wahl. Jacqueline is also survived by extended family in Louisiana. She remained very close with her former daughter-in-law, Debbie Bayless.

Jacqueline is preceded in death by her first husband, Alton; her son, Curby; and her stepdaughter, Connie R. Brinson.

A gathering of Mrs. Brinson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2020, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 243 South LHS Drive, Lumberton, with her interment to follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, Silsbee.
