Samantha Lynn Atkeson

Samantha Lynn Atkeson, 48, of Orange, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on January 13, 1973, in Orange, to Shirley Ann Duhon Atkeson and Jesse Ray Atkeson Sr.

Samantha was for sure loved anywhere she went. She was easy going and happy all of the time; laughing, giggling, and always had something to say, of course, sometimes it wasn’t good. She was simple, loved to color, count cards (all 400), and listen to the radio. Samantha also loved cartoons, her cat, fingernail polish, and makeup. Dr. Pepper, gumbo, boudain, and seafood were some of her favorite things. She always swooned over Elvis, and I am sure she is ecstatic about seeing him in Heaven. Samantha and Brenda’s favorite colors were pink and purple, and they had the same color glasses. She will be missed dearly.

Samantha is survived by her sister and devoted caregiver, Mary Reeves; brothers, Joe Atkeson and wife, Nancy; and Jesse Atkeson, Jr. and wife, Kathy; nieces and nephews, Stephen Atkeson; Heather Atkeson; Ashley Atkeson; Desi Harrison; Hunter Atkeson; Mary Reeves; Phillip Reeves; Heather James and husband, Cory; Sarah Coats; and Noah Coats; great-nieces, Peyton, Serenity, Lilith, and Eleanor.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Brenda Atkeson Matlock; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Virginia Duhon; paternal grandparents, Silas and Ida Atkeson.

A gathering of Samantha’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Freedom Christian Fellowship, 1413 Port Neches Avenue, Port Neches. Her interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Autumn Oaks Cemetery, Orange.
