Wilfred Chamberlain

December 15, 1919 - May 13, 2018

Wilfred Albert Chamberlain, 98, of Beaumont, died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on December 15, 1919, to Rose Anna Violette and Joseph Chamberlain, in Caribou, Maine. Wilfred was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He served in Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930’s. Wilfred was an avid fisherman, woodworker, gardener, and has traveled to all fifty states.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Chamberlain; daughters, Karen Holcomb and her husband, Haden, of Weatherford and Rose Mary Guidry and her husband, Michael, of Alvin; grandchildren, Kristen Pilkington and her husband, Jeff; Justin Holcomb; Amanda McKay and her husband, Michael; Janet Alcayaga and her husband, Eduardo; Brian Guidry and his wife, Brook; and Michelle Baker and her husband, Jared; nine great-grandchildren; and a special thanks to his sister-in-law, Nancy Fear.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Chamberlain; sisters, Rita Gilbert, Gloria Brayall, and Lorraine Travers; brothers, Rueben Chamberlain and Leonard Chamberlain; sister, Juliette Chamberlain; and granddaughter, Ashley Ann Guidry.

A gathering of Mr. Chamberlain’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Interment will follow at China Cemetery, China.
