Barbara Griggs

April 21, 1954 - March 16, 2018

Barbara Lynn Dailey Griggs, 63, of Lumberton, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at Village Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on April 21, 1954, to Betty Jo Wagner and Stanford Dailey, in Beaumont.

She was a former resident of Beaumont who attended South Park High School and graduated from East Chambers High School. Barbara was an avid reader and music lover who collected porcelain teapots. She was beloved by family and friends and was a kind and compassionate soul. She particularly loved and spoiled her grandson, Jeremy.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Dailey of Lumberton; children, Heather Blackwell and her husband, Barry, of Lumberton and Benjamin Griggs of Kingsville; sister, Darla Dailey Jolet of Lumberton; aunt, Audrey Bernard of Port Neches; grandchild, Jeremy Blackwell; former husband, Joseph Griggs of Jasper; and a host of relatives and friends including Stan Ray Dailey.

She is preceded in death by her father, Stanford Dailey; brother, Ralph “Scooter” Dailey; and other friends and family including her beloved cousin, Cheryl LeBlanc.

A gathering of Ms. Griggs’ family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with her memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704 or the American Cancer Society, 4 Bayou Brandt Drive, Suite B, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
