Bessie Mae Kettl

Bessie Mae Kettl, 91, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, Beaumont. She was born on January 1, 1926, to Louina Higginbotham Wright and William Wright, in China. Bessie was a very devoted housewife that liked to cook and loved her children. She was a devout catholic and enjoyed praying the Rosary.

Survivors include her son, Danny Melancon and his wife, Vergie, of Beaumont; daughters, Donna Sanders and her husband, Richard and Kathleen Roche and her husband, Jerry, all of Beaumont; Marie Daniel and her husband, Reggie, of Sour Lake; and Peggy Hennessey and her husband, Mike, of Beasley; grandchildren, Brandon Melancon and his wife, Dori; Chris Melancon; Richard Sanders, Jr. and his wife, Georgia; Michelle Cantu and her husband, Hector; Jackie Ballard and her husband, Marty; Jeffrey Roche and his wife, Misty; Lauren Burris and her husband, Aaron; Blake Daniel; and Tanya Hennessey; and Dylan Compton and his wife, Caitlen; great-grandchildren, Olivia Melancon, Gabe Melancon, Katy Sanders, Holden Ballard, Seth Ballard, Gianna Roche, Lila Burris, and Kase Compton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, E.L. “Lonnie” Kettl; brothers, Ephry Wright and Amory Wright; and sister, Tressie Leger.

A gathering of Mrs. Kettl’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Interment will follow at China Cemetery, China.
