Betty Creamer

October 22, 1935 - September 30, 2017

Betty Minta Harred Creamer, 81, passed away at home near Warren, Texas, on September 30, 2017. She was born on October 22, 1935, near Normandy, Texas, a small town that is no longer on the maps. She was the third of four children born to Pindall B. and Shirley Lynola Ratcliff Harred. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized in the Rio Grande River near her birthplace.

Betty graduated from Uvalde High School in 1954, where she was the star player for the Lady Lobos basketball team. After setting a scoring record for Texas half-court basketball, she was named The Queen Bee by the Uvalde Leader News.

She married her husband Jesse in 1955 and enjoyed almost sixty-two years of marriage and adventure with him while raising their four children. They began their lives together in Uvalde, where Betty began working as the secretary to the District Manager of Southwestern Bell Telephone while she was still in high school. She followed her husband and his career around the country and to the Bahamas, where she was a stenographer for a British knight.

Betty retired from her position as a Security Specialist with the Navy at John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Mississippi, in 1993 and moved to Kerrville with her husband. In 2001, they moved to Warren to be near their daughter. Their grandson, Ty Lambert, born in 2001, was blessed to call her his Best Buddy for almost fifteen years.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Allen Creamer; her children, Timothy Creamer of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Michael Creamer and his wife, Dona, of Georgetown; Kevin Creamer of Austin; and Kristen Lambert and her husband, Guy, of Warren; her sister, Mildred Pollock and her husband, Bill, of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister. JoAnn Collier of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and brother, Kenneth Harred of San Angelo.

Betty’s graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Allison Cemetery in Warren.
