Clayton Burris

December 4, 1927 - August 14, 2018

Clayton Burris, long time resident of Beaumont, died August 14, 2018. He was born on December 4, 1927, in Kinder, Louisiana.

Clayton was a United States Army veteran. He was employed by Sun Oil Company and retired from McGown Oil Co.

Survivors include his wife, Doris McGown Burris; son, Scott Burris and Pam Ashley; three grandchildren, Anna Johnson and her husband, Rome, of Jackson, Mississippi; Bennet Burris and his wife, Laura of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and Forrest Burris, of Big Sky, Montana; mother of his grandchildren, Mecklin Stevens of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; sister, Stella Brown of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walker Burris and Kittye Burris; brothers, Mac Burris and Walker Burris; sisters, Marthella Zellers, Juanita LeFleur, and Dorothy Jacobs.

A memorial service for Mr. Burris will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Interment of his cremated body at McGown Cemetery, Milam will be announced at a later date. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
