Elaine Sadowski

Elaine Barbara Sadowski, 80, of Beaumont, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2020. She was born on August 12, 1939, to parents Adele Pukstas Sadowski and Stanley Sadowski, in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Elaine was a ray of light, love and joy to all who knew her. A devout Catholic and devotee to the Blessed Mother, she prayed the rosary endlessly for her beloved children, family, friends, and those in need. She had an exceptional compassion for those hurt and suffering. A beautiful lady with a hearty laugh, sparkling green eyes and bountiful joy, she was a unique and special soul. Intelligent, humble, down to earth, wise, empathetic, fun and compassionate, she loved everyone she met.

Elaine was a trailblazer ahead of her time with a lifelong interest in business, real estate and the stock market. She graduated from Bayonne High School in 1957 and attended Claremont Secretarial School in New York, New York, Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, and Vale School of Real Estate in Bricktown, New Jersey, where she became a licensed Real Estate Agent.

Born of hard-working Polish/Lithuanian parents, she went to work at 15, waiting tables at Howard Johnson’s, while maintaining excellent grades. Ever the entrepreneur, she opened a small restaurant called “Elaine’s Place”, serving sandwiches and refreshments to commuters “on the go”. She loved waiting tables, quoting, “You always leave with money in your pocket”, and paid for her large Polish Catholic wedding with silver dollars she had received in tips. Confident and vivacious, Elaine rode commuter trains in and out of New York for work and drove her yellow ’57 Chevy convertible around the Jersey Shore on weekends. Her business acumen was exceptional. She went to work in 1958 for Paillard, Inc., a company specializing in movie cameras and lenses as Secretary to the Technical Manager. Followed by; Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Jersey City, New Jersey as Secretary to the Steel Buyer/Purchasing Department. Her love of the stock market was ignited when she accepted a position with Reynolds Inc., New York, New York promoting the sale of Mutual Funds. Employment with R. W. Pressprich & Co. as Executive Secretary (to the Partner of the N.Y. Stock Exchange) taught her a great deal while taking minutes in management meetings and assisting the trading desk in the execution of stock transactions. She carried her love of the stock market throughout her lifetime, and it became her retirement hobby for over 20 years. Elaine could tell you every stock symbol, CEO, closing price and hot buy.

Her greatest love was her children, and Elaine left Pressprich & Co. in April 1966, one month before her first daughter was born. She enjoyed 7 years as a full time Mom, relishing time at the beach, swimming at the lake, taking her kids for ice cream, going to church, the library, cooking and enjoying family. Her family was a source of great love, joy and pride, and they were inseparable.

Elaine re-entered the work force as Office Manager for Omni Realty in Lakewood, New Jersey. She enjoyed listing both residential and commercial properties and preparing contracts of sales and lease agreements. A visit to Houston with a real estate associate sparked an interest in the Oil and Gas boom of the 70’s. Elaine found an interesting variety of roles in the “temporary agency” field with leading Houston Corporations such as Exxon, Conoco and Coastal States Gas. She worked for Top Girls, Kelly Services and many more, before settling in as a Property Manager for Arlen Realty, managing some of Houston’s largest apartment complexes. A “4 day” temporary opportunity at Mobil Corp in 1980 turned into a full time career. She loved working as a Maintenance Clerk in the Olefins Aromatic plant, and made many lifelong friends. She retired from Exxon Mobil’s Environmental Department and enjoyed nearly 20 years playing the stock market with her nest egg, camping with her best friend and life partner, and relaxing on the front porch. Her life was interesting and full, and she made a lasting impression upon everyone she met.

Elaine’s life centered around her devotion to the Lord, prayer life and love for her daughters. She was often quoted as saying, “My strength comes from the Lord, The Blessed Mother has always answered my prayers, The Lord works in mysterious ways, and I love my beloved children”. She was unwavering and unconditional in her love for them. Survivors include her daughters, Denise Vreeland of Rockwall and Cheryl Wisenbaker and her husband, Tony, of Beaumont; brother-in- law, Bob Considine; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews in New Jersey.

She is preceded in death by her loving partner and best friend of forty-five years, Raymond “Red” Brush and beloved sister, Judith Considine.
