Eula Marie Touchet

February 18, 1924 - June 8, 2020

Eula Marie Touchet, 96, of Winnie, died Monday, June 8, 2020, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur, Texas. She was born on February 18, 1924, in Morse, Louisiana, to Olive Meaux Racca and Emedice Racca. Eula enjoyed bowling and Cajun music, and she was an excellent cook. During the war efforts, she was one of many women that entered the work force as a cultural icon of “Rosie the Riveter”.

Survivors include her sons, Calvin J. Touchet and his wife, Ethel, of Hillsboro, Texas and Thomas L. Touchet and his wife, Nancy, of Copperas Cove, Texas; daughter, Judy S. Benson, of Groves, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of seventy-one years, Joseph A. Touchet; and five siblings.

A gathering of Mrs. Touchet’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2020, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with her interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie. Mama , I called every day for the last two weeks and no one would let me talk to you. I had this feeling that something was wrong and I guess when I saw daddy standing at the end of my bed and he called my name I knew he was coming to take you to be with him.
