Gloria Bebe Vernon

July 24, 1926 - June 5, 2018

Gloria Fatch Vernon passed away at the age of 91 on June 5, 2018. She was born to Joe and Vida Fatch in Houston on July 24, 1926. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She often said she had the best family in the world.

She was a lifelong Presbyterian and a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Port Neches. She delivered meals-on-wheels for the church and was a volunteer at Christus St. Elizabeth hospital for thirty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and her beloved husband of sixty-eight years, James Leland Vernon.

She is survived by her three sons, Mike Vernon and his wife, Judi, of Fulshear; Joe Vernon and his wife, Melanie, of Nederland; and Paul Vernon and his wife, Tina, of April Sound. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matt Vernon and his wife, Lauren; Brooke Vernon; Jacob Vernon and his wife, April; James Vernon; Lee Brown; Amber Brown; and Michelle Richard and her fiancé, James Downey; and great-grandchildren, Lilly, Jenna, Anna, Rylie, Joli, Jalyn, and Sailor.

The family wants to extend a special thank you to the caregivers who so lovingly cared for her in her final years- Tammy, Gayle, Bridgette, Martha, Joanie, and Geraldine, and to her best friend and constant companion, Joree Storms.

Memorial contributions for Mrs. Vernon may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 805 Sierra Drive, Port Neches, Texas 77651.

A gathering of Mrs. Vernon’s family and friends will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
