Ida Marie Remkes Winzer

Ida Marie Remkes Winzer, 90, of Winnie, died May 5, 2017, at Winnie Riceland Hospital. She was born in Dayton, Texas, on February 10, 1927, to H.C. Remkes, Sr. and Senenath Green Remkes.

Marie worked for Chambers County in the tax office for twenty-seven years and retired in 1998. She was a very talented lady, doing china painting for many years and has many pieces to show off her beautiful work. She was a very advanced seamstress, making a lot of her clothes and almost all of her daughters, including dance costumes, prom dresses and pageant dresses. Marie loved to cook, making holiday dinners very special for her family. She loved to decorate her home and office for each holiday of the year. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnie beginning when she first moved to Winnie.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Winzer Marino and her husband, Henry; grandchildren, W. Wesley Meissiner and his wife, Lisa; Ronny Manning, Jr. and J. Bart Winzer; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Blake, and Ethan Meissiner; Taylor and Tré Manning; Baylie Winzer Keel; Aiden and Abigail Winzer; Darian and Nik Lee; and great-great-granddaughter, Mila Keel; longtime friend, Julie McBride; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Spud Winzer; son, J.S. Winzer, J.R.; sisters, Pearl, Dolly, and Joyce; brothers, H.C., Leo, and Johnny; and her companion for twenty-two years, Euel Dugat.

Thanks to all the nursing staff at Riceland Hospital for all their special care not only her during her last stay but all the times before. Thanks also goes out to Danny Thompson, Dr. N. Boutte, and Kindred Hospice. A very special thanks to Rubye Sonnier for all your time spent with her.

A memorial and graveside service will be held at a later date. Her cremation arrangements were held through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie.
