James Christian Teare
James Christian Teare was born on September 1, 1938 and died Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his home in Beaumont, Texas.
Chris was the first-born son of Erin Barry Teare and Joseph Maxwell Teare, Sr. He graduated from St. Anne Catholic School, St. Anthony High School, and The University of Notre Dame. His education provided him with a lifelong love of learning. This led him to the understanding that study, knowledge and a bit of wisdom are inseparable. He received his Masters in History under the guidance from the renowned Historian Doctor Ralph Wooster of Lamar University. He was also a gifted photographer and sketch artist where he studied both in San Antonio.
Athletics were an integral part of Chris’ life. As soon as he could grip a baseball there was always one in his hand. In his youth he honed his skills with the help of some of the Beaumont Exporters and American Legion Ball. He also pitched on the St. Anthony High School Varsity and made the 1960 University of Notre Dame Baseball Team.
Survivors include his siblings, Erin Teare Rienstra; John Barry Teare; Joseph Maxwell Teare, Jr. and his wife, Gay; Kathleen McDade Teare; and Bridget Hain Teare; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maxwell Teare, Sr.; and twin brothers, Patrick and Michael Teare.
The family would like to thank Riceland Home Health especially Melinda, Christie, and Deloria for the care that they gave to Chris.
A memorial gathering for Mr. Teare will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2019, at 1335 Drummond Drive, Beaumont, Texas.

Mr. Teare was one of my patients. He was actually one of my favorite patients. When I first had the honor of being one of his caregivers, he noticed that I say "Yes sir or no Sir". For me it's a sign of respect as my parents taught me. He jokingly tells me he would break me of this bad habit one day and I said a "Good habit" and we jokingly tiffed about it from then on. There wasn't a day that I seen him that we didn't laugh about something. As time went on, I learned much about this great man. On my first visit I noticed a black and white photo that appeared to be something from the 1900's. It was a beautiful photo of a barn door with light beams shining through that seemed to stir the soul. I ask about it, and he informed me he had actually taken the picture. I told him he had a wonderful eye for photography and later found out about his studies. As he was with his generous spirit offered to teach me. His body may have grown older and weaker, but his mind and spirit were something to admire. Learning of all his accomplishments still amazes me. Patients like Mr.Teare remind me of why I am a nurse and a care giver. He never ceased to be thankful for my visits and remind me I was special. I will truly miss him and miss our visits and the laughter. Prayers for his family and friends. May God send Angels of comfort and peace. Rest in Peace Mr. Teare. Deloria Williams. Chris was a good friend. We enjoyed our visits with him talking about St Anthony School days and how we all felt like we were family. May His Soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed Rest-In-Peace.

Chris was a dear friend and classmate. We watched many a Notre Dame football game at my home. Chris was a brilliant man who suffered through a debilitating disease during his lifetime. He made the best of it and lived as best he could!! His reward will be in Heaven!!!

Chris was an avid Notre Dame fan and longtime subscriber to Blue & Gold Illustrated (where I work). We became friends thru the years and often talked about football, family and many other things. I looked forward to his calls. He was a dear sweet man. He will be missed. May God comfort you as only He can during this time. I look forward to seeing him in heaven. God bless you all.

Chris was working for Target several years ago and that’s where I got to know him. He didn’t have a vehicle and would walk to work. I befriended him and would pick him up and bring him home several times. We went to the Subway next to Kroger for lunch or to Jason’s Deli many times. I really enjoyed visiting with Chris. I left Target and lost touch with him. I am sorry to learn of his passing.
