James Frank Worthy, Jr.

October 30, 1972 - December 4, 2019

James Frank Worthy, Jr., 47, of Nederland, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Houston. He was born October 30, 1972, in San Antonio, to Judy Daugherty Worthy and James Frank Worthy, Sr.

James was known as “Bubba” by his family and as “Jimmy” by his friends. He loved sports, especially, football and baseball. The Nederland Bulldogs, Houston Astros, University of Texas Longhorns, and Washington Redskins were his favorite teams. He also enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and drinking craft beer. His family and friends meant the most to him. He was a senior HSE specialist with Thorpe where he worked for many years with his dad, uncle, and cousins. He loved his job and took pride in it. He was kind, giving, honest, and full of love and integrity. He had the best smile, laugh, and hugs. To know him was to love him. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a faithful Christian man that loved his Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Ashley Worthy, of Nederland; sisters, Kathie Cooper-Janik and her husband, John, of Kasilof, Alaska; Sheila Yarbrough and her husband, Mark, of Lumberton; Lisa Cooper and her husband, James, of Port Arthur; and Alice Badeaux and her husband, Mitch, of Port Neches; parents-in-law, Gail and Tommy Martin; his fur babies, Lola, Aurora, and Iris; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Judy and James Worthy, Sr.; grandparents, Mary Hilda and Edwin Worthy, Sr. and Pearl and William Daugherty; and uncle, Ed Worthy, Jr.

A gathering of Mr. Worthy’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2955 South Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Memory Garden of Jefferson County, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
