Lillian Jane Hart
Lillian Jane Hart was born in 1924 in Beaumont, TX and attended Silsbee High and Lamar University. In Beaumont, she married William Carey (Boots) Landry and had two children, Janie Enola Patteson and Joel Dinan Landry. She joined the TX Social Security District Office and served for 38 years through her retirement. After Boots passed away, she moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be close to her son and grandchildren.
Jane reconnected with Cooper Quitman Hart, a teenage friend from Texas, and he followed her to Colorado Springs after their wedding. There, the two of them created a new family with all of Jane and Cooper’s children and grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Jane created a loving community around her in a number of spiritual, professional, and social groups. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont and St. Francis of Assisi Church and Calvary United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. She served in volunteer and leadership roles in the Beaumont Independent School District PTA, American Business Women’s Association, Widowed Persons Support Group, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Veterans of Foreign Auxiliary #4051, American Legion Auxiliary #209, and BPOE Elks Auxiliary #309. In both Texas and Colorado, Jane inspired an amazing community of women through Jazzercise; after joining in 1979, she attended classes at least twice a week until shortly before her death.
Lillian passed away on Thursday, November 8th at Pikes Peak Hospice surrounded by love from her family and friends. Jane was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and fought courageously at home until days before her death. She is survived by her children, Joel Dinan Landry, and his wife, Vivian Tsai Landry; Janie Enola Patteson; and Evelyn Hart Vanderburg; grandchildren, Christina Landry Brown and Eric Michael Landry .
The family would like to express special appreciation to all of Jane’s doctors including Dr. Christopher Oliver in Denver, and Dr. Joel Ernster in Colorado Springs and to Project Angel Heart for the delivery of nutritious meals to those with life threatening diseases, as well as the nurses, doctors, and caregivers at Pikes Peak Hospice. Thank you for your support and empathy to allow Jane to spend her last few years living at home with such grace and strength.
A gathering of Mrs. Hart’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2018, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.

She was the aunt who was involved in my life from earliest memory. She took photos of school events, birthdays, family celebrations. She was the last of my aunt's and fittingly so. She was the one who carved an unforgettable image on my heart.
