Margery Moorhouse

Margery Adams Moorhouse passed away January 29, 2018.

Margery was born March 29, 1926 in Pt. Arthur, Texas to Cornelia Ruysenaars and Murray L. Adams. She had many fond memories of growing up surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Beaumont area schools and graduated from Beaumont High School.

In 1947 Margery married the love of her life, Irwin “Moose” Moorhouse. It was a marriage that lasted 69 years. She attended Lamar University “in-between” 6 children. Finally, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Margery thought she should have won the award for going to college the longest. Her teaching career was spent at Dick Dowling Elementary.

Margery’s retirement was filled with trips to the beach, hill country and grand-babies. Her life-long appetite for history was fed with many volunteer hours at The McFaddin-Ward House and Tyrell Historical Library.

There never was a more loving, kind and giving person than “Mom”.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her children and their spouses. Mike and Katherine Moorhouse, Pat Moorhouse, Ann and Mike McDonald, David Moorhouse, Mary and Bobby Smith and John and Dena Moorhouse. Her grandchildren and their spouses, Ginny and Jake Bailleaux, Ellen and Jeff Briscoe, Jake White, Ben White and Katy Moorhouse. Great-grandchildren Leah McClanahan, Addison Bailleaux, Kennedy Tucker, Sophia Horton and Laken Horton. She is also survived by her sister, Flo Aulbaugh and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of Mrs. Moorhouse’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Beaumont. A time of fellowship for family and friends will be immediately following the funeral service at The Parish Hall. Mrs. Moorhouse’s interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville.
