January 26, 1942 – March 30, 2018

76 years old

R. Ronald Bertrand passed away March 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  Ronald was a native of Beaumont, TX and a longtime resident of Fannett, TX.  He attended South Park HS and graduated in 1960.  Mr. Bertrand was a master plumber and electrician.  He worked for John Rainey Plumbing, South Park ISD, Lamar University, and for the Texas Youth Commission.  Mr. Bertrand also owned and operated Bertrand Heating and Air Conditioning.

Ronald was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.  Serving the local church was a joy for him. Using his special talents in heating and air conditioning, and electrical work was a gift he enjoyed sharing with the church and community.  The Bertands were faithful members of South Park Baptist, First Baptist Fannett, and presently at First Baptist Church Hamshire.

Ronald enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening.  Some of the most special moments were shared with his grandchildren on fishing trips to the beach. Ronald also enjoyed his involvement in the local Lion’s Club, serving as president from 2008-2009.

The legacy of Ronald survives in the lives of his wife of 54 years, Helen Marie Dorè Bertrand; a son, Mark Bertrand and wife Jennifer of Hamshire, TX; a daughter, Celina Rice and husband David of Marshall, TX;  2 Brothers: Clarence Bertrand and wife Shirley of Lumberton, TX and Royce Bertrand and wife Judy of Beaumont, TX; sister-in-law, Nina Bertrand of Evadale, TX; 4 Grandchildren: Anna Rene Rice, Luke David Rice, Caleb Marcus Bertrand, and Jasee Alan Bertrand.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; James Clarence Bertrand and Rose Ellen Bertrand, and his twin brother John Reagan Bertrand.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice Plus and Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kindness.

A gathering of Mr. Bertrand’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 25304 Highway 124, Hamshire. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers donations to the First Baptist Hamshire Youth Fund or to Homebound Ministry, at 25304 Highway 124, Hamshire, Texas 77622, would be appreciated.
